Seth, a Lafayette native, joined Mansfield Melancon in 2020 after practicing with two of the preeminent Lafayette-based law firms. Seth’s decision to join Mansfield Melancon was driven by the firm’s unified vision and goal of understanding a client’s wishes and balancing those wishes with the timely, efficient, and aggressive pursuit of the most favorable result for the client.

Since receiving his J.D. from Louisiana State University’s Paul M. Hebert Law Center, Seth has accumulated experience in Personal Injury Litigation, Property Damage Litigation, Insurance Defense, Coverage Litigation, and Commercial Litigation and Transactions (including, but not limited to, Collection Matters, Corporate Organizational Work and Agreements, Contract and Lease Preparation and Negotiation, Mergers, and Acquisitions). In doing so, Seth has appeared before and advocated for clients in various Louisiana administrative agencies (including Louisiana Office of Workers’ Compensation), over 20 of Louisiana’s Judicial District Courts, several of Louisiana’s Appellate Courts, each of the three United States District Courts in Louisiana, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

Before practicing law, Seth attended Louisiana State University for undergraduate studies and ultimately graduated from the University of Louisiana Lafayette (B.S. 2006). Following his undergraduate studies and while earning a Master’s degree from the University of Cincinnati (M.S. 2009), he worked as a commissioned patrol deputy with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Mr. Mansfield is also an active member of Lafayette Volunteer Lawyers and regularly participates in Counsel of Call, Pro Bono Protective Orders, and the Homeless Experience Legal Protection (HELP) Program. As a result of his volunteer work, he has been awarded the Louisiana State Bar Association Pro Bono Publico Award (2016), the Louisiana State Bar Association Young Lawyers Division Pro Bono Award (2014), the Louisiana State Bar Association Pro Bono Century Award (2014—2016), and the Lafayette Volunteer Lawyers Outstanding Attorney Award (2013—2019).

Seth has also been recognized by his peers through Acadiana Profile as a “Top Lawyer” in Personal Injury (2023), Commercial Litigation (2019, 2020), Corporate Law (2020), and Workers’ Compensation Law (2017).

Seth’s extensive and wide-ranging experiences before and during his legal career provide him with the ability to develop a clear result-oriented vision for his clients. In addition, and in line with the other attorneys at Mansfield Melancon, Seth provides his clients with trusted legal counsel, personal attention, and aggressive advocacy.

When he is not practicing law, Seth enjoys spending time with his wife and four beautiful children, hunting and fishing, and attending LSU athletic events.
